On August 29th, over 20 mothers and their babies gathered at the Babylist Beverly Hills Showroom for Momcozy's "Beyond the Breast" workshop. Led by Certified Doula and Lactation Educator Specialist Briana Thomas, the two-hour event provided practical strategies for pumping and weaning.
Thomas opened the workshop celebrating the feeding journey: "I love watching my clients feed their babies. It's amazing that we get to give our children something that comes from us and we're able to nurture them and help them grow. It's actually pretty incredible."
The session covered essential topics including creating sustainable pumping schedules, managing milk storage, and preparing for weaning. Thomas explained how bodies work on supply and demand, helping mothers understand how to maintain milk production while balancing work and life demands.
When discussing safe milk transportation, Thomas demonstrated the Portable Breast Milk Cooler: "One of my clients had these. It fits two bottles, and it's basically a cooler, and it keeps everything chilled. The best way is to keep it on ice, so that it stays chilled and then transported either to the fridge or the freezer when you make it home."
Attendees also experienced hands-on demonstrations of the M9 Mobile Hands-free Breast Pump for discreet workplace pumping, the Portable Milk Warmer for consistent feeding at daycare, and the KleanPal Pro Baby Bottle Washer and Sterilizer for efficient equipment cleaning.
The Q&A session showcased the workshop's supportive atmosphere. One mother candidly asked about biting during nursing, adding with humor: "Unfortunately, I don't have any advice on stopping it. Some babies have a very high need for suckling, and a pacifier kind of helps that. Because he's smiling after he does it. And I'm screaming, so..."
These honest exchanges helped mothers realize they weren't alone in their challenges. Topics ranged from workplace pumping rights to managing milk supply concerns and navigating daycare feeding schedules.
Beyond education, the event fostered lasting connections. Mothers exchanged contact information and tips, creating support networks extending beyond the workshop. Many left feeling confident and empowered with practical strategies they could implement immediately.
Thomas concluded with gratitude: "I would love for everyone to thank Momcozy for allowing us to be here to get our questions answered. "
Due to this workshop's success, Momcozy is hosting another expert event on September 26th. For those interested in expert guidance and community support, click here to register. Space is limited!
